Schiphol is huge and 15 min by train to Centraal — one of Europe's easiest airport transfers.

Health: Tap water excellent. The genuine hazard is the bike lane — look both ways twice, never walk in the red-paved lanes.
Tap water: ✅ Excellent and strictly regulated — drink freely from any tap.
Safety: Amsterdam is very safe (~1/100k). Pickpockets work Centraal and the crush around the Red Light District; bikes will run you over before any criminal will. The 'coffeeshop' rules are legal but city-specific — read the signs.

This is a Schengen-area country. Most US, UK, EU, Canadian, Australian, NZ, Brazilian, Japanese and Korean passports enter visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the whole Schengen zone. From 2025 the EU's ETIAS pre-authorisation applies to visa-free non-EU visitors — check before you fly.

The bike lane is real traffic — Those red-asphalt strips aren't sidewalks — they're a fast, silent, unforgiving bicycle highway. Never stand, stop, or step into one without looking. Locals will not slow down for you.
