DBV airport is 20 min out; the shuttle bus (€10) beats the €35 taxi. Off-season flights thin out — check dates.

Fees: Now euro country; bank ATMs are surcharge-free, Euronet boxes in Dubrovnik/Split old towns are not.
Limits: €400–1,000 per pull at bank machines.

Avoid the tourist-zone Euronet machines and their 'conversion'. Bank machines + euros = no drama.

Health: Tap water is excellent countrywide. On rocky Adriatic entries wear water shoes (sea urchins). Sun is strong on the white stone.
Tap water: ✅ Excellent countrywide, including Dubrovnik and Split — drink from the tap.
Safety: One of Europe's safest countries — Dubrovnik and Split feel effortlessly calm. Old-town crowds in summer are the only 'crush'. Swim shoes and shade are the real advisories.

This is a Schengen-area country. Most US, UK, EU, Canadian, Australian, NZ, Brazilian, Japanese and Korean passports enter visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the whole Schengen zone. From 2025 the EU's ETIAS pre-authorisation applies to visa-free non-EU visitors — check before you fly.

Walls at opening, swims off Buža — Do the city walls the moment they open (8am) before the cruise crowds and heat — then skip the paid beach clubs and swim free off the Buža rocks outside the old walls, cold beer in hand. Two of Dubrovnik's best things, for €38 and free.
