Health: Tap water is glacial and perfect (skip bottled entirely). The hazards are natural: sudden weather, unfenced cliffs, geothermal-hot ground, and rip currents at Reynisfjara's black beach — heed every sign.
Tap water: ✅ Some of the purest on Earth — glacial and free. Never buy bottled here; it's a tourist trap.
Safety: Iceland is statistically the safest country on Earth (near-zero violent crime). Your only genuine adversaries are the weather and your own selfie confidence near cliffs and waves. Check road.is and safetravel.is.

🛂 Visa & entry
This is a Schengen-area country. Most US, UK, EU, Canadian, Australian, NZ, Brazilian, Japanese and Korean passports enter visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the whole Schengen zone. From 2025 the EU's ETIAS pre-authorisation applies to visa-free non-EU visitors — check before you fly.
