SPU airport is 30 min out; the €6 shuttle beats taxis. Split is the ferry hub for the whole Dalmatian coast.

Fees: Now euro country; bank ATMs are surcharge-free, Euronet boxes in Dubrovnik/Split old towns are not.
Limits: €400–1,000 per pull at bank machines.

Avoid the tourist-zone Euronet machines and their 'conversion'. Bank machines + euros = no drama.

Health: Tap water is excellent countrywide. On rocky Adriatic entries wear water shoes (sea urchins). Sun is strong on the white stone.

Safety: One of Europe's safest countries — Dubrovnik and Split feel effortlessly calm. Old-town crowds in summer are the only 'crush'. Swim shoes and shade are the real advisories.

This is a Schengen-area country. Most US, UK, EU, Canadian, Australian, NZ, Brazilian, Japanese and Korean passports enter visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the whole Schengen zone. From 2025 the EU's ETIAS pre-authorisation applies to visa-free non-EU visitors — check before you fly.

💬 Traveller tips & reports
You live inside the sight — Don't 'visit' Diocletian's Palace — sleep, eat and drink inside it. Its lanes are free public streets, full of bars and cafés built into 1,700-year-old walls. The paid bits (cellars, cathedral) are cheap add-ons to a monument you already inhabit.
